Abstract

In the established approach of Labour and Conservative politicians, UK welfare and public services depend on first making the economy work. In the middle of a cost-of-living crisis, this article makes the case for the alternative foundational approach of making the household work by directly tackling liveability issues of residual income, essential services and social infrastructure.
