Abstract
There are strong traditions within English socialism embedded in regional identities. These offer a similar creative link between place and politics as has been seen within civic nationalist movements in Scotland and Wales. In rediscovering these links a new movement for social justice could emerge in the regions of England, as part of the wider context of devolution within the UK.
