Abstract

Roundtable on the referendum and beyond that brings together contributors from different positions (National Collective, the Green Party and the Radical Independence Campaign) and gives a sense of some of the key dynamics and reverberations of the campaign. The key insights that emerge are, firstly, that disenchantment with the political and politicians is not inevitable, and can be challenged. Secondly, that the campaign was about what kind of country people wanted to live in, rather than being a debate only on nationalism. Thirdly, Labour is struggling to find its way in this changing political conjuncture. Fourthly, the Yes campaign should be understood in the wider context of emerging articulations of internationalist forms of opposition to austerity.
